It is known as one of the most northern winemaking regions, with only 90 mm of annual rainfall. Despite of its location, its semiarid Mediterranean climate and mild summer temperatures make the Limari Valley an excellent place for fine winemaking.
As a result of its East to West open topography to the ocean, the thick camanchaca fog is carried up in the Ovalle Valley by the breezes from the Pacific, thus allowing for fresh temperatures during summer. Perfect conditions for the ripening of the grapes with a cool region characters.
Viña Sutil currently owns around 30 hectares, consisting mostly of white wine varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, along with red wine varieties like Syrah and Pinot Noir.
